Mobile Matters: Our Commitment to a Better Tavrn Experience
Not perfect yet - we know. But better.
Over the past few updates, especially in v1.31.1, we’ve been laser-focused on making Tavrn work the way it should on phones and tablets. And we’re not stopping here.
What We’ve Fixed (So Far) 🔧
v1.31.1 brought major mobile improvements:
- PWA install support - You can now install Tavrn as a progressive web app on your mobile device. It works like a native app without needing an app store.
- Fixed layout issues - Responsive behavior across different screen sizes is much more reliable now.
- Better navigation - Mobile-specific navigation improvements make getting around easier.
- Improved touch interactions - Buttons, menus, and gestures feel more natural on touchscreens.
- Various mobile-specific additions - Small tweaks that add up to a smoother experience.
Earlier updates addressed:
- Message grouping that looks cleaner on smaller screens
- Better notification handling
- Improved media gallery for browsing on mobile
- Smoother scrolling and navigation
Why Mobile Matters 🧡
Here’s the truth: a lot of you use Tavrn on your phones.
Whether you’re checking messages on the go, hopping into voice calls from your couch, or managing your server from anywhere, mobile is where you are.
We built Tavrn to respect your privacy and give you a better chat experience. That promise means nothing if the mobile experience is frustrating, buggy, or half-baked.
Mobile shouldn’t be an afterthought. It should just work.
What’s Still Coming 📋
We’re not done. The 1.31.x series of updates will continue focusing on mobile polish and improvements.
On our radar:
- Further touch interaction refinements
- Better keyboard handling and input experiences
- Improved call UI on mobile devices
- More responsive layouts across different screen sizes
- Performance optimizations for lower-end devices
- Better offline behavior and connection handling
Some of these are already in progress. Others are based on feedback we’ve received from you.

The Mobile Roadmap (Honest Version) 🗺️
We’re not going to promise a timeline we can’t keep.
What we will promise:
- Mobile improvements are a priority in the 1.31.x update series
- We’re iterating based on real feedback from real users
- Every update will include mobile polish alongside other features and fixes
- We won’t consider mobile “done” until it feels as good as desktop
Public beta means we move fast and fix things as we go. That’s the deal. And right now, mobile is where a lot of that focus is going.
Why We’re Doing This 🧭
Other platforms treat mobile like a second-class experience. Clunky interfaces, missing features, worse performance - all because mobile users are “good enough” to keep around but not worth the investment.
We’re not doing that.
Tavrn is supposed to be better. Privacy-first, user-focused, built with care. That applies to every platform, every device, every screen size.
If you’re using Tavrn on a phone, you deserve the same quality experience as someone on a desktop. We’re working to make that happen.
Try the PWA 📲
If you haven’t already, install Tavrn as a PWA on your mobile device.
It’s simple:
- Open Tavrn in your mobile browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.)
- Look for the “Add to Home Screen” or “Install” option
- Tap it
Now Tavrn lives on your home screen like a native app. No app store, no download, just works.
It’s faster, cleaner, and feels more like a real app. Give it a shot.
What Happens Next ✨
We keep building. We keep listening. We keep improving.
The 1.31.x updates are focused on polish - and a big part of that polish is mobile. Every update will bring refinements, fixes, and additions that make Tavrn better on phones and tablets.
Your feedback drives what we prioritize. If a lot of people report the same issue or request the same feature, it moves up the list. That’s how this works.
